Free online teleprompter

Paste your script, choose a reading speed and press Start. ScrollPrompt scrolls your words smoothly at a steady words-per-minute pace so you can look into the camera and sound natural instead of reading off a crumpled page.

Adjust the font size and line width for your screen, add a countdown before it rolls, mirror the text for a beam-splitter rig and use the keyboard to pause or nudge the speed while you record.

How to use the teleprompter

Paste or type your script into the box. Separate paragraphs with a blank line so each one gets breathing room on screen. Pick a reading speed in words per minute; the estimate beside the Start button tells you how long the whole script will take at that pace. Press Start, wait for the countdown, and read the line at the red marker as the text scrolls upward.

While it runs, press the space bar to pause and resume, use the up and down arrow keys to speed up or slow down by ten words per minute, and press Escape to exit. Restart returns to the top for another take. Fullscreen hides everything except your words.

Choosing a reading speed

Most people speak comfortably at 130 to 160 words per minute. Explainer videos and podcasts often run a little faster, while speeches to a live audience, sermons and anything with technical terms tend to work better at 110 to 130. Rehearse once, note where you rushed or waited, and adjust. Speed is based on your word count, so the scroll stays steady regardless of font size.

Private by design

ScrollPrompt has no server-side processing. Your script stays in this browser and is saved in local storage on this device only, so it is still there when you come back. Click Clear to remove it, or clear site data in your browser settings.
